Whether you got glasses for the first time or were given a stronger prescription, you may have to undergo a short adjustment period before you feel comfortable wearing them. During this time, you may see objects that appear warped, bent, wavy, or out of focus. You may also have a hard time determining if these objects are near or far.
As this happens, your eyes may feel tired, and you may also experience headaches, nausea, and dizziness. These symptoms will soon subside the longer you wear your glasses. The adjustment period can take a few days to up to two weeks. If, however, the adjustment period takes too long, or you experience eye strain or headaches for more than three days, visit your nearest eye doctor as soon as possible.
The best way to help your eyes adjust to your new glasses is to continue wearing them. As soon as you wake up, wear them as much as you can each day. If you still have your old prescription glasses, consider stashing them away. It can be tempting to wear them occasionally because they feel more comfortable, but doing so only prolongs the adjustment period for your new specs.
